Here it is revered the Virgen de la Candelaria, the light-bringing virgin. The figure of the swarthy virgin counts as the biggest sanctum of the Canaries. Every year at the middle of August is carried the Madonna's figure during a procession in memory of the conversion of the Guanchen three times around \ "Plaza de la Patronade Canarias \". Centre of this place is the big basilica whose inspection is absolutely recommendable. However, Candelaria is also a contemplative coastal place with a long black sandy beach. The impressive bronze statues of the Guanchenkönige which governed Tenerife at the time of the Spanish conquest are to be seen in the bank side. A stroll by the small Old Town with numerous restaurants and small shops develops without big tourist bustle very pleasantly. The comfortable Apartements are in a residential arrangement with big swimming-pool, directly compared with the anew formed bank promenade on the sunny east coast of Tenerife.
